Ovation eggshell vs.flat finish

" Read a number of reviews online both pro & con on the new SW Ovation paint line. Since it is a considerable savings per gallon ($20.00+ vs. other SW paints) I decided to try it out. Painted a small bathroom a lighter green eggshell finish over a very dark flat green and got good coverage and even sheen, so the eggshell is certainly acceptable. However, I just tried using the flat sheen in the Ovation paint to cover a medium beige with a slightly lighter beige on our front foyer walls. While the coverage was very good in two coats, the flat sheen is very difficult to paint with "evenness" and in the bright light coming in our foyer, vertical paint line streaks are still visible, even after applying a THIRD coat on the walls. (I even tried using a different, "premium" roller on the third coat with no better results.) So I really can't recommend the Ovation paint in flat sheen. On my next project (requiring flat sheen,) I will have to go back to the overpriced SW Super Paint to hopefully get more even "sheen" on the walls. Don't wast your time and $ with the Ovation flat! "
