Good Door Paint

" I bought this for exterior doors on a job and it went on well, although it does require you to work quickly. It dried well, even in high humidity and threatening rain, so that doors could be closed without the paint sticking to the door gaskets. I was pleased with the performance, appearance, and workability of the paint. "

It's okay

" I tried Emerald Urethane on a set of kitchen cabinets. These were older cabinets with a previous lacquer finish, so we primed them with S-W white lacquer undercoat and sanded them. We removed shelves, doors, and drawers to spray separately. The first coat was sprayed using a RAC V .313 tip at about 2000 psi (directions recommend a .013-.015 @ 2000 psi). Runs and sags resulted in a thorough resanding and respraying. This time we used a RAC V .210 fine finish tip, and also sprayed the shelves, doors, and drawers with the same tip. Although not as bad, we still had some runs. For the price (north of $90 per gallon retail) this paint isn't worth the hassle that the long open time creates, especially if you live in a humid climate. I've sprayed other cabinets before with Cashmere using a .313 tip and never had a problem with a run or sag.
It might be that spraying this product with an HVLP gun would yield better results, but it's not suited for airless spray.

Unworkable

" Years ago I painted my own house with S-W Super Paint and it looked great and has held up well. So when a customer asked me to paint his exterior I went for what I knew had worked well for me in the past. Of course, it's been reformulated since then. He also wanted gloss on the exterior. The colors were white (trim), Black Fox (siding), and Tricorn Black (doors). The reality of this paint quickly became apparent. It drys way too fast, even in moderate temperatures. Every spray mark frosted on the edges and showed. Brush marks couldn't be pulled together. The paint dries so fast you can't flow it together, and the job looks terrible, even with paint additive to help it flow. On the back of the house, facing the western sun, the paint blistered in a number of places, and I'm going to have to sand that out and repaint it. I would not recommend this paint, at least in the gloss formula, at all. "

Excellent wallpaper paste

" This paste is a "heavy" strippable paste actually made for commercial vinyl. But it can be cut with water to the desired consistency to use on non-pasted residential papers or even as an activator for pre-pasted papers. It works well, and when properly cut will spread easily enough with a large pasting brush. It is suitable for commercial vinyls, grass cloth, residential vinyls, traditional and non-woven wallpapers. Good wallpaper primer

" I use this product under wallpaper unless the manufacturer specifically requires Zinnser's Universal Wallpaper Primer-Sealer. This is a good all around acrylic-latex primer. It does as good a job as any water-borne primer at blocking stains and makes a good, solid substrate for topping with other products, whether paint or wallcoverings. "

Good wall paint on a budget

" For a number of years now the Super Paint has been my go-to wall paint for most interior applications. I typically use it in satin finish on walls for added durability. It's a step above contractor grade paints but reasonable in price with excellent coverage and minimal spatter when used with a roller. It flows well and covers well. I don't recommend the semi-gloss for trim. It drags too much. Cashmere is much better and flows like cream. But I love this product as a wall paint and highly recommend it. "

Love the satin

" I've only used the satin finish. I did a job a few months back, and my store manager demoed out a gallon for me, so I figured I'd try it. It was matched to a Behr color that was either medium or deep tint base going over a light color and lots of patch work. I used it in a stairwell and basement office, and it flowed perfectly. I worked very fast in the stairwell to avoid potential lap marks but had no trouble at all. The paint flowed and leveled wonderfully. As with just about every S-W paint I've used, the spatter effect from the roller was virtually nil, too. Because of the radical color change it did take 2 coats, but I couldn't be happier with how the paint performed. If you have a customer who is willing to pay premium price for the paint, I recommend this product just as much as I would Duration, which is also an excellent paint, IMHO. "

" I've used Cashmere medium lustre enamel for many years, and it is still one of my all-time favorites. I recently bought some for doing trim in a kitchen. This paint flows like cream. No drag whatsoever, and it covers well. It gives an excellent finish to any enamel job. It's well worth the price. "
